Modular Japanese Town House Example Maps: MS_Machiya_4
This house is inspired by the machiya in this photo. It’s the photo of a rent house in Kyoto located near Gion, one of the famous Kyoto districts. I’ve checked on Google map and noticed that the house right now is slightly different from the one depicted the inspiration photo, but this is how machiya work, they are constantly renovated. That’s also why they are disappearing, it’s too expensive to maintain them.
Finally a little video from the demo of the pack:
A little note about the drawing on the fusuma: it’s a painting of Maruyama Ōkyo (円山 応挙, June 12, 1733 – August 31, 1795), the “Tiger and Dragon” used for a folding screen (byoubu). The picture is now worldwide public domain, because more of 100 hundred years are past since the death of its author.
